1. How do I pledge?
To pledge to a tour or campaign, just click the “Pledge” button on any tour or campaign page. You will be asked to enter your pledge amount and select a reward. From there, you will go through the PayPal checkout process. Note that you must finish the PayPal checkout process for your pledge to be recorded.
2. If I make a pledge, when is my card charged?
If the tour you’re backing is successfully funded, your card will be charged when the campaign reaches its funding deadline. If the tour does not reach its funding goal, your card is never charged. That's why we call them pledges.
3. If funding does not succeed do fans pay anything?
No, fans won’t pay anything if funding fails. If funding fails, all pledges are canceled.
4. What if I want to pledge anonymously?
Anonymous pledging is not currently supported by GigFunder. Think about it: The artist you are supporting only succeeds in coming to your city if you tell your friends, so it doesn’t make sense to pledge anonymously.
You are free to choose any username you wish though, so you could make pledges anonymous that way if you like. Otherwise, we hope you're okay with showing your name and support.
5. Is my pledge amount publicly displayed?
No. Only you and the artist will be able to see your pledge amount.
6. If I make a pledge, what info does the artist receive?
Artists see your GigFunder username, your pledge amount, and the reward you've selected. If funding succeeds we'll also give the artist your email address.
7. Do I get notified if a tour I'm backing succeeds?
We’ll send you an email when funding ends, no matter the outcome.
8. Can I pay with a check? Send cash by mail?
Sorry, GigFunder only supports credit card payments through PayPal.
9. How can I change my pledge amount?
You will have to cancel your pledge and re-pledge through the artist’s campaign page.
Visit the campaign page and click “Details”. Click Cancel. Your pledge is now canceled. To pledge a new amount, now go back to the campaign page.
10.Can I cancel a pledge?
By pledging, you are committing to supporting that artist’s tour; canceling that commitment is discouraged. If you must cancel, visit your pledge manager page and click “Details.” Next to your pledge information, there is a Cancel button.
11. Is my pledge tax deductible?
No. Charitable donations are not allowed on GigFunder.
12. A campaign I'm backing just succeeded and my credit card was declined. What do I do?
Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do if your card is declined. So make sure your credit card info is up to date on PayPal before pledging! If your card is declined, you will not be eligible to receive the pledge awards you selected.
13. Can people from outside the US pledge to tours?
Yes! Anyone, anywhere (with a major credit card) can pledge to GigFunder tours. However, GigFunder does not currently support tours to foreign countries, so we hope the pledge award is a good one!
